The LG 100 Greatest Fan Benches are a series of wood benches designed with a cricket motif that sit in Hagley Oval, Christchurch, New Zealand, where the Cricket World Cup 2015 opening match was held. These benches were donated by LG Electronics with the names of 100 Greatest Fans engraved, symbolizing the support of passionate cricket fans around the world and commemorating the hosting of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Cricket World Cup 2015.
== Philosophy ==
The LG 100 Greatest Fans Benches were designed as a tribute to the sport of cricket and to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. The armrests are fashioned after two wickets, each comprising the regulation three stumps and two bails. Spindles in the shape of cricket bats provide back support, and the plates on each bat are engraved with the names of the world’s most 100 passionate cricket fans selected through the LG 100 Greatest Fans campaign. The posts come together in two emblems, one sporting the official trademark of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 and the other denoting LG’s contribution. Ten benches altogether line the grounds of Hagley Oval.
